I would then have to rethink things as I don't want LR, but would need to think about paying double the price for Photoshop.Couple of things here: First off, to move to a new computer here are a couple of great links: PS will be a separate product with the same pricing (double the current price) as other Adobe products like Premiere Pro. And, that Classic and CC will merge, into a single LR product with options to use the Cloud or to just use local storage, or to use both. I do think that (but I was flamed and ridiculed across on LULU for suggesting this) that Classic will be improved to the extent that Adobe will decide that PS is no longer needed in the Photography Plan (which is an especially good deal at the moment compared to what is offered to other Adobe users). Uploading a 6 minute video can also take a day, and stop me doing anything else on the internet except check mail. I know internet access will improve over time, but, for example its still painfully slow in many part of the UK, and improvements will probably slow down once we leave the EU, I am in a village 15 miles from a major British city and a days wildlife shooting (which is still only 200 -300 images for me) can take a week to back up to BackBlaze. The bulk of the world still has rubbish internet connections, which would force a mass exodus of users as well, if forced to work in the cloud. Apart from all the Adobe users who work on confidential files who would not want (or legally might not be allowed) to have their files managed by Adobe (governments, hospitals, commercial in confidence photographs, cutting edge research science, etc), I'm not sure what the benefits to Adobe would be. But as I said I am looking forward to PM6 being available.Īs an aside, as this thread has already been sidetracked, I don't see why Adobe would "force" Raw storage in the cloud.

I am finding the single Neofinder catalogue to catalogue everything plus C1 sessions is working "OK" for me at the moment. This has been partially true in that from day one I set up a day date storage system for files (raws and finals with XMPs), and simply re-catalogued them when changing DAM, so I have never had restructure my files at the system level. I felt (wrongly, as it turned out) that I should establish a single DAM that would a stable aspect of my workflow even if I changed raw processors. I try not to leave things simply as processed RAWs, but always save out as TIFFs (I'm not as good at this as I would like to be) so that I am not stuck with images tied to a particular raw processor. And given that it is slowly improving it may well still be an all in one solution. The C1 catalogue seems to work for many people, even if it's not as robust as LR or another DAM, while it fails miserably for others. Though I still might have to keep some version of whatever LR that exists that comes with PS - still the best deal out there.

That might be a good decision if I stop paying for LR, and get to keep the Library ( as I currently understand the Adobe exit policy). I had forgotten about John's "open in anything" plugin. I really don't want multiple catalogs - I can make them work, but again the workflow gets ragged.īottom line - I know that I can force a lot of things to work together - but I am looking for a smooth workflow. Many of those end up as Tiffs, which can be handled by both CO & LR. Maybe my issue is that I don't print out everything, even my best photos. It worked, but the workflow was pretty rugged. I tried to keep LR working as the main DB, but found it inconvenient to use it with CO.

I was happy with Media Pro for a while and bought into the promises - but PO failed.

I have tried some of the things you mention, albeit, a few years ago with CO v7.
